FAQ

Q. "How long will it take before Jennor can give me a quote for the work I require?"

A.
Jennor guarantees a quick response time to all enquiries, usually within 24 hours. Our experienced team of surveyors prices all projects competitively and comprehensively. Quotes will be submitted as soon as possible, the time involved in the preparation of a quote is dependent on the size of the project and other variables.

Q. "Can Jennor take my initial concept and mould it into a comprehensive and viable plan for the transformation of my workspace?"

A. Jennor has full design and build capabilities. We provide detailed CAD drawings and, if necessary, calculations for Mechanical and Electrical installations. Jennor are fully conversant with CDM regulations and are qualified to carry out a full principal contractor role.

Q. "My company wants to refurbish its workspace but needs to continue to use its offices. Can Jennor undertake the work we require whilst our offices are occupied?"

A.
Jennor often undertakes office refurbishment in areas that are occupied. We use this experience to ensure that minimal disruption is caused to our clients working environment. If necessary, Jennor will operate outside normal office hours to prevent disruption from potentially disruptive works.

Q. "Should carpet tiles be laid before or after partitioning has been installed?"

A. Installation is quicker and waste is kept to a minimum when carpet tiles are fitted before partitioning. However, carpets would need protection during the construction of the partitions and the tiles would be flattened along the lines of the partitioning if it was to be removed in the future. Jennor's preference is to lay carpet tiles after partitioning has been fitted. This is in order to minimise the risk of damage and ensure that a perfect finish is maintained onto which furniture can be installed.

Q. "Should suspended ceilings be installed before or after partitioning?"

A.
Jennor recommends fitting suspended ceilings before the partitioning. Using the demountable partitions allows for quick and easy alterations to layout at a future date if required, without any major disruption to the office environment. Modular lighting can easily be set out within this to accommodate cellular office layouts.
Exceptions to this would be situations where very high levels of sound attenuation are required; in this case, the partitions should be built from floor to full slab level, with ceilings fitted afterwards. However, this will create much more work if the layout is changed in the future.

Q. "Is partitioning eligible for tax relief?"

A. Demountable partitions are not considered part of the building; therefore, they are eligible for tax relief in a similar manner to plant and machinery. Twenty-five percent writing down allowances are available; in the first six years eighty two percent of expenditure will be given as tax relief. This is illustrated in the table below.

Year Balance (ý) 25% Allowance
1 50 000 12 500
2 37 500 9 375
3 28 125 7 031
4 21 093 5 273
5 15 820 3 955
6 11 865 2 966
